About Us
PMC Tax Service originally was created in January 1989 as a department of Precision Machine Co., Inc. The first 25 clients had previously been serviced by one of the Machine shop’s new owners, Kay Buse, in her home office. The Service started growing immediately through word of mouth and, by the 1992 tax season, the Service had to add another preparer part time. By the 1995 tax season another part time preparer was added. In 1996 the Service decided to apply for authorization to E-File tax returns as one of the first services in Lincoln other than H&R Block. Authorization was granted and E-Filing was available with the 1997 tax season. Within 2 years a new full time tax preparer was needed to help handle the day time appointments and walk-ins. Growing the Service even more, Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) were offered for the first time with the 2000 tax season through Santa Barbara Bank & Trust in California. Again PMC was one of the first to offer the RALs other than H&R Block in Lincoln. In November of 2002, the Service was sold to two of the preparers and became PMC Tax Service, LLC.
The next step in the growth process was for the LLC to purchase about 250 clients from another independent tax practice in Lincoln in 2004. New clients have come and gone over the years, but the number of returns prepared has always grown each year. Some clients have moved out of state and some of those still mail their source to us for tax preparation due to the fact that all taxed states are available with the tax program. The most prevalent form of advertising we still have is word of mouth by our loyal clients. A new full time preparer was added to the LLC with the 2008 tax season and to date we have already prepared 1150 individual returns plus 15 business returns which, by the way, includes most of the original 25 clients as well.

Betty is a sister of Kay Buse and joined the original Service in 1999 as a full time preparer after retiring from her brother’s café and taking the H&R Block Tax Preparation Course. Besides the varied and many clients she works with, she is the coordinator of the LLC’s internal financial records, client files, and required e-filing records. Her specialty is working with various and multiple state returns.

Kay is still actively involved with the LLC full time as a preparer of both individual and all types of business returns. She handles the payroll reporting and returns for multiple companies. She monitors the tax program for continual updating, e-files all of the returns, and does the printing of all bank product checks and reports. Her past experience with 2 CPA firms and a wide variety of business books allows for an expertise in small business bookkeeping, payroll, and returns both manual and computerized (such as QuickBooks).

Mike is married to Kay and Betty’s other sister and joined the original Service in 1992. He works full time for an employer outside the LLC and part time for the LLC, primarily evenings and weekends during the 3 month tax season and by appointment only the rest of the year. He specializes in Schedule C business returns, like self-employed construction, remodeling, and craftsmen, and does some business consulting.

Brenda joined the original Service in 1995 and works evenings and weekends during the 3 month tax season and by appointment only the rest of the year. She specializes in Schedule C business returns of self-employed day cares, lawn services, and some traveling professionals. She also works with financial budgets at her full time employment outside the LLC.

Michelle started full time with the 2008 season. She is also the general manager of the Machine Shop, Kay’s daughter, and has been with the company full time since April, 1992. She has helped in the Tax Service by taking appointment calls, pulling files, photocopying, and working with the tax return signing when returns have been picked up later over all the years since 1992. She has learned the business by doing and listening and then completing her formal training with the H&R Block Income Tax Preparation Course in 2007. With a Machine shop assistant manager in the office, she can devote as much time as necessary to work with clients.

Janella has been preparing tax returns for 17 years. She received her bachelor's degree in 1995. She has worked for 2 CPA firms and taught Quickbooks at a local community college. She specializes in small businesses and preparing individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns. She has assisted individuals in setting up their businesses, including payroll and using Quickbooks for their financial records. She enjoys traveling to homes and offices, if needed, to assist with business filings.
